The land designated as the nature reserve, known as Mickleover Meadows, is located on the Derby City Council owned land north of Onslow Road and is bounded by Brisbane Road, Murray Park Community School and the southern edge of Derby College. The total area comprises around 21 hectares.
There are a wide number of habitats within the reserve including woodland, hedgerows, brambles, veteran trees, wildflower meadows, ponds and grassland which together have the potential to attract a rich bio-diversity of flora and fauna.
